Cancellara Relieved After Gold Medal
[28.09 11:21] It was a relieved Fabian Cancellara, whom the Team CSC Official Fan Club had a chat with the day after the brilliant time trial, which won him a gold medal for the second year in a row.
"It was extremely liberating because I had some serious doubts as to my form. Usually when I set my mind on something I just go for it with everything I've got, but I'd prepared a bit differently this time. I'm not in the best shape ever, but I managed to time my training just right so it turned out well anyway,� explained Cancellara on Friday.
With his gold medal secured the pressure is off for Cancellara ahead of Sunday's road race.
"Yeah, there's no pressure there at all. For me Sunday's a bit like going back to school. Yesterday I knew exactly what to do, but the road race is something else. We only have three riders there so we gotta stay calm and watch and learn. It'll be hard to do a repeat performance, but then you never know," continued Cancellara.
