Lasse B�chmann Stagiaire at Team CSC
[19.08 19:48] Team CSC has signed a stagiaire contract with the 24-year-old Glud & Marstrand Horsens talent Lasse B�chmann, who took an overall ninth place in Tour of Denmark two weeks ago as well as a second place in the queen stage to Vejle.
The young Dane will get his debut as a Team CSC rider later this month, when he takes part in the two Italian category 1.1 races: Grand Prix Nobili and Grand Prix Carnaghese.
"One of the reasons we want to try Lasse out is of course his performance in Tour of Denmark, where he was the only rider able to keep up with Kurt-Asle Arvesen all the way to Vejle in the queen stage. I've had a good working relationship with Glud & Marstrand Horsens' Michael Skelde for many years now and he knows exactly what it takes to be a professional rider - and he thinks Lasse could be right for us. Apart form that we want to give some of the best Danish riders a chance," says Team CSC's sports director Kim Andersen.
"I have to say that Lasse is the biggest Danish talent, who hasn't yet signed a contract as a pro. He's a giant steam engine and has a unique ability to always be up front in the peloton so he's a perfect fit for Team CSC really. He's able to ride in all kinds of terrain so I'm sure that if he gets a pro contract, which I believe he will after having done some time as a stagiaire, we'll be seeing some great results from him in the future," says Glud & Marstrand Horsens' team captain Michael Skelde.
"I'm very happy of course. As a rider you always dream of getting the opportunity to ride for one of the big professional teams. That's what you're aiming for all along with all those tough hours of training out on the road, so I'm gonna grab my chance and do the best I can," says Lasse B�chmann, who sees his results in this year's Tour of Denmark as the highlight of his career so far along with two great results in the Under-23 category: An eight place at the World Championships and a fourth place in Th�ringen Rundfahrt. |
